Useful reports. Fair standards. No pile-ons.
Effective August 28, 2026
Checkride Radar exists to help pilots make informed scheduling and preparation decisions. By using the service or submitting content, you agree to these rules.
Directory use
Directory profiles are a discovery aid, not an official FAA record or a guarantee of current designation, authorization, availability, price, or contact information. Missing-DPE tips enter a verification queue and do not become public until checked. Always confirm current status with the FAA and confirm all terms directly with the DPE before scheduling.
Who may submit a pilot report
Submit a report only for a practical test you personally took with the named DPE, including a test that was completed or formally discontinued. Keep one active report for each DPE and checkride type; corrections and details about a related retest belong in that existing report, while a different checkride type may have its own report. Do not submit hearsay, a friend's experience, retaliation, marketing, or a report about an interaction that never became a practical test.
What belongs in a report
- Communication and response time.
- Scheduling, location, aircraft, and fee information.
- Professionalism, fairness, and alignment with published standards.
- Firsthand oral topics, flight tasks, approximate timing, and neutral checkride-style observations.
- An optional detailed gouge that helps an applicant prepare lawfully without revealing test answers.
- Specific, firsthand facts written in a respectful tone.
Checkride Radar keeps the four-category DPE reputation score separate from the structured Radar and optional written gouge. Radar summaries identify the selected checkride, sample size, and recency. Small samples receive restrained wording, and percentages for structured frequencies are not shown until enough reports exist.
Prohibited content
Do not post threats, harassment, hate, sexual content, profanity aimed at a person, knowingly false claims, impersonation, spam, private or identifying information, certificate numbers, payment details, medical information, or content that encourages cheating or defeating a legitimate examination. Do not organize pile-ons or use Radar to pressure a DPE into changing a result.
Ratings and outcomes
The pilot-experience score equally averages fairness and ACS alignment, professionalism, communication and responsiveness, and scheduling and logistics. Fee, response time, scheduling wait, pass or fail, and personality do not change that score. The choose-again question is optional and is calculated only from pilots who answer it. A difficult examination can still be fair. Checkride Radar may exclude or remove ratings that appear outcome-driven, duplicated, manipulated, or unrelated to a firsthand completed ride.
Contact responsiveness reports
Contact Responsiveness is separate from Pilot Experience and may be reported whether or not a checkride happened. Submit an episode only when you personally attempted to contact the named DPE, attest that the factual dates, methods, and outcome are accurate, and update that same episode when the outcome changes. Do not include message contents, screenshots, phone numbers, email addresses, private details, or accusations. Public profiles use combined results from eligible episodes in the rolling past 12 months: an attempt that is still awaiting a reply is not counted as reported no response until 14 full days have passed, and attempts still inside that 14-day window are excluded from the response-rate denominator. One current episode is allowed per user or installation and DPE in each data environment. After an episode is resolved or withdrawn, a later episode may begin only after a 30-day cooldown.
Editing, withdrawal, and moderation
Authors may correct or withdraw their own report through the same signed-in account or mobile installation that submitted it. The mobile app keeps a per-report editing credential across normal app updates, but Expo Go, installed builds, other devices, reinstalls, and cleared app storage use separate sandboxes and are not interchangeable accounts. Existing reports cannot be claimed by matching a name or device description. Corrected reports are marked Edited. Prior versions and withdrawn reports may be retained privately for dispute handling, integrity, abuse prevention, and legal obligations. Public text is screened before publication for prohibited material. Users can hide and report objectionable pilot reports and block a report contributor on their device. Flags enter a protected owner moderation queue but do not automatically hide or change public content. Checkride Radar may quarantine content, restore content, limit submission frequency, or block an account or installation from contributing through a recorded owner decision when needed to enforce these rules. Moderation decisions do not certify that any remaining statement is true.
DPE corrections and disputes
A DPE, representative, or other directly affected person may use the private dispute process or email dperadar@gmail.com. A dispute must identify the information at issue and requested correction. Submitting a dispute does not verify the submitter as a DPE and does not automatically hide a report, change a rating, or alter public profile information. The owner reviews disputes case by case, may independently contact publicly listed sources, and records the decision and reason. Checkride Radar may retain a nonpublic dispute and moderation record to preserve the decision history and prevent repeat abuse.
Your responsibility
You remain responsible for the content you submit and for your scheduling, travel, payment, and training decisions. You grant Checkride Radar permission to host, display, format, aggregate, and moderate your submitted content for operating and improving the service. You may not scrape the service, evade safeguards, interfere with other users, or use the directory for harassment or unsolicited mass marketing.
Launch access and future Premium features
The initial public app is free to download, and all published pilot reports and gouges are free to read at launch. Checkride Radar may later offer optional Premium digital features, complimentary access for eligible verified instructors or flight schools, or contributor rewards. No Premium purchase is active in the launch build. Before paid access is activated, the applicable price, included features, renewal terms, cancellation method, and store billing terms will be shown and these terms will be updated. Mobile digital purchases will use the applicable Apple or Google in-app billing system.
Service changes
Features may change, be unavailable, or contain incomplete information. Access changes will not alter DPE rankings or turn paid placement into an endorsement. These terms may be updated as account verification, public syncing, subscriptions, advertising, or other material features are introduced. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
